The month of October has not ended and Spaniards have been enduring so much duress from other crises and now another strikes their heavy hearts. The images are horrific. In Toledo, Spain an accident still under investigation has occurred at Spain’s Madrid–Andalusia rail corridor Wednesday morning, October 28, 2026 (GMT+1) Madrid, Spain. Injuring over 179 people and at least 68 dead so far 24 grave conditions. Two trains collided a Renfe ave 280 train from Madrid to Seville and an Iryo 6076 train from Madrid to Seville. The destruction made the Iryo train's carriages come off track. According to BBC reports, "the accident happened when a high-speed train travelling from Madrid to the south of the country collided with another train that was apparently stationary." The Libertad Digital said that “Fernando Seco, passenger in the train accident in car 2, on @esRadio, "The train track has gone through the bird in car number 3. The hardest car hit was at Renfe’s front . Another reported a woman dying in his arms. The person who was Minister of Labor during the government of Mariano Rajoy, Fátima Báñez, is among the dead. She was the resident of Fundación CEOE. Videos of the train fragments seen below.
The Guardia Civial, "has deployed in the area personnel from the Citizen Security of the province of Toledo, OMAC (Mobile Offices for Citizen Attention) as well as SEPRONA agents and from the Traffic Headquarters." stating X. Furthermore:
Units from Citizen Security of Ciudad Real and Albacete are also heading to the area at this time, from the Reserve and Security Groups (GRS), from the Air Service, from drones, the Cavalry group and the Large Catastrophes Team from the Criminalistics Service, from the Canine Service and from the Judicial Police. Prayers to the dead and may their souls be saved and led into Heaven.
The situation has left people scrupulous. A man has filmed the sight saying, ".. in the background, there is a detour... 118, almost 119 where we find ourselves. This is the head of the Iryo and the back is the Renfe train. That is the opposed side, let's say it is the tourist side. That it was heading towards Seville and it has produced the accident because it was heading the tail and we have just noticed. So it has been a very strong blow and a bit derailment. The problem must have originated at the front of the Renfe train, which was traveling in the direction of Seville. I don't know if the Renfe train has derailed previously. An then passed the Iryo train. I do not know if it passed the Iryo and it derailed first and then Iryo was behind, and has struck. I have no idea. But this is the head of Renfe. This is a grave accident from the side of Renfe. Here is the train's power unit. I do not know if this is Renfe's power unit. Watch the video below.
Spain has been under a lot of political stress due to the Pedro Sanchez immigration crisis in Ceuta, Spain.
