Fashion Trend #7: Capes
When you think of capes what pops up to mind? The pre-17th-century European folk tale called Little Red Riding Hood. The children’s tale is written after the little red hooded cape worn by a little girl whom the story focuses on. The cape is becoming a trend on the runway because designers are choosing to incorporate them into their collection. However, capes is not just a design but it is an article of clothing unlike some other trends that are added to a design. Some designers choose not to add shorts to their collection. On the whole, some designers are adding the category capes into their websites. Capes can be mistaken for a poncho because of the design. But they are slightly different. Capes are meant to keep you semi warm and are sleeveless. A poncho is an article of clothing worn in colder climates and can be made of heavy woven fabrics. Since the development of cartoons and television coming from comic books; the idea of capes has changed. What was once fashionable became a superhero thing for comic writers that wanted to make a human being look supernatural. But in the runways capes are coming in all shapes and designs. One can still think of the person wearing the cape as almost super human. Capes come in different fabrics from Leather fabrics for the hot seasons or sheer fabrics for cooler summers.
