(updated) Hoping for a miracle. Are these birds being targeted? Trending Ostrich Farm a research facilty vs Canada Food Inspection Agency. Many reasons why. The Canada Food Inspection Agency CFIA is culling 400 Healthy Ostriches from the Universal Ostrich Farm in British Columbia Canada. This comes after a couple of birds caught the avian flu a few months ago. The other ostriches have never been tested and will not before the culling execution. These birds have been healthy for 250 days and are not being used for human consumption. These bird's eggs are being used for scientific research. There is no law protecting these animals from the dumpster. Dave Belinsky says that these animals have the strongest antibodies for H5N1 in the world right now. A couple of ostriches came from Africa in 1993.One might ask why can’t the farm owners test the birds themselves. Several months ago, Ostrich owners Karen Espersen and Katie Pasitney were denied to test the Ostriches with 6 months in jail and fined $250,000 if they retested their animals.(source)
A couple of miracles have taken place since the rcmp arrived Sunday September 21, 2025. The dumpster location site has declined to be part of the process. And the hired trucks to be used for this process has also declined to be part of this process. Jeremy Olson, the COO of Clearway Rentals is being called an "international hero" by the daughter of the ranch owners. On Tuesday, September 23, 2025 the company who was supposed to have sent out hay bales for the cfia refused. Recon rentals in Vernon who would have been used for their scissor lift also opted out to be part of this scheme. So far the cfia is the ones who have given the warrant not the rcmp.
My question is why are not veterinarians writing letters to the law offices in charge of making the decision to cull these birds. Secondly, how does the Canada Food Inspection make the decision as if they were doctors, scientists or vets.
“This is life versus death,” Rebel News reporter Drea Humphrey. “These are healthy animals that are going to go in dumpsters,” she continued, as a potential cull order could be executed at any moment. Another rebel news reporter says," I'm making an 11-hour drive with a home-built micro trailer on the road to Edgewood, British Columbia."
Over 200 farms have had culling orders in British Columbia since 2022.Whatever happens to these beautiful animals, I would keep their eggs and start with the next generation of ostriches. Life continues. Wishing best to farm owners and supporters.
